George H Northrup, PhD
Clinical Psychologist
Experienced, professional, compassionate
Dr Northrup has been in private practice in eastern Queens since 1987, providing psycho- therapy for adults, couples, and families. Long experience has familiarized him with the many ways in which people surrender to fear and anxiety, remain stuck in unhappy memories, repeat self-defeating behaviors, and forget how to love and be loved.
As each person is unique, so each treatment reflects the specific needs and wishes of those seeking his care. Dr Northrup practices a variety of psychotherapy techniques; his only preference is for approaches that effectively relieve suffering.

Over the course of his career, Dr Northrup has worked in hospitals, outpatient clinics, public schools, and with homeless people, as well as in private practice. He spent many years training psychologists at St John's University and at Schneider (now Cohen) Children's Hospital, part of Northwell Health.
His thoughtful, compassionate manner has earned him the respect of his colleagues, who elected him President of the New York State Psychological Association in 2009 and member of the governing Council of Representatives of the American Psychological Association for 2012-2014.
